If you are considering buying property that does not currently have water service, please be cautious. Even if there is a Winkler Water Supply water line close to the property, state regulations may not allow us to add additional meters to that line. According to state regulations and the Winkler Water Supply governing tariff, we cannot ask existing customers to pay for the extension of a water line to a property that does not have water lines available to service the property or the water lines do not have enough capacity to service new meters in the area. Unfortunately, in our service area obtaining access to clean, treated, and safe drinking water can be expensive and confusing. We urge you to research and document water availability for any property you are considering buying.
